1. Why this matters
Before your Qarma account can communicate with TRACES NT, you’ll need API credentials issued by the European Commission.
These credentials ensure that your DDS submissions are secure, traceable, and compliant with EUDR requirements.
2. Reference guide (optional)
If you’d like to review the official EU documentation, you can find it here:
For setup purposes, you don’t need to go through the full guide — we’ll summarize what matters below.
3. Requesting your API credentials
You’ll first need credentials for the ACCEPTANCE (test) environment.
This lets you test and confirm that your connection works before going live.
Once everything is validated, Qarma will request PRODUCTION (live) credentials on your behalf.
Step 1 – Email TRACES Support
Send a short email to request your test credentials.
Email address: sante-traces@ec.europa.eu
Subject line: EUDR API – Request for credentials – <Your company name>
Email example:
Dear TRACES Support,
We would like to request EUDR API credentials for integration with TRACES NT.
Please issue credentials for the ACCEPTANCE (test) environment so we can validate our integration workflow.
Once the integration is confirmed, Qarma will request the PRODUCTION (live) credentials on our behalf.
Company: <Legal Entity Name>
TRACES NT Operator ID: <ID if applicable>
Contact: <Name, Email, Phone>
We require service account credentials for machine-to-machine use.
Thank you,
<Name / Title / Company>
Step 2 – Forward details to Qarma
When you receive the credentials from TRACES Support, forward them to your Qarma project manager or Qarma contact.
We’ll use this information to activate the API connection in your account.
Please include:
Username
Authentication key
Operator information (company name, operator ID, reference number, etc.)
Environment type (Acceptance or Production)
4. Testing and going live
TRACES NT uses two environments for your integration.
Acceptance (test environment)
Use this environment to create and submit test DDS for a few sample products.
These are not legally binding — they simply confirm that the workflow functions correctly.
Production (live environment)
Once testing is successful, Qarma will help move your setup to Production.
Only DDS submitted in the Production environment are official and legally valid under the EUDR.
5. Summary checklist
Here’s what you need to do:
Email TRACES Support to request your ACCEPTANCE (test) credentials.
Forward your credentials (username, authentication key, and operator info) to your Qarma project manager.
Qarma will validate your setup and, once approved, request your PRODUCTION (live) credentials.
That’s it — once the setup is complete, your DDS submissions will automatically sync between Qarma and TRACES NT.
