Qarma records GPS locations from the mobile app when users take pictures with the device camera. The location can be shown on a map like below:
In China, there are restrictions on how GPS locations can be shown on maps (learn more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restrictions_on_geographic_data_in_China). In order to provide accurate display of GPS locations in China, Qarma uses a Chinese map provider.
Temporary restrictions
Due to government regulations, the Chinese maps are periodically not available for users outside of China. Qarma is aware of the situation and will monitor the availability and try to find alternative solutions. Our best recommendation if you see the map is not showing is to copy the GPS location into Google Maps or Bing Maps, being aware that Western map services will not be 100% accurate in displaying the location in China (normally a few hundred meters difference).
